Congratulations to Roberta Simpson - member of the month
I have been a member of various gyms in London over the last 10 years, and joined 37 Degrees when I started working in the area. I can honestly say 37 is the best gym I have ever been a member of - friendly, fun, encouraging and has really helped in developing a real habit of gym membership. I would recommend to anyone looking at joining a gym that you don't review the gym on a cost basis as it can seriously damage your chances of getting fit if the gym you join actually puts you off (rather than encourages you) to get there - I've had this experience in the past! Its much easier to get to the gym and put yourself through a workout if you feel it is a friendly luxury place!
I have to confess though, that I have not had (and don't really have) any particular targets for my gym attendance - as far as my gym relationship goes, the whole point is just to feel better in yourself! It also helps to excuse the not having to calorie count approach (I love my food and chocolate far too much to do that). But once you have a gym habit being fit just kinda follows from that and you start looking at how you can push yourself a little more each time!
I do a lot of the classes here (I love the fact you can build a camaraderie with others who regularly go to the same class!) and have my own workouts, but just before Christmas I realised that I was no longer really pushing myself to the point where I felt the results after a workout. I therefore decided I needed some help to make sure I was still pushing my limits a bit - I did some research (watching the PT's in the gym!) and picked Gary to approach and see if he'd be happy to personal train me. Thankfully he accepted, although I'm not sure he realised at the time quite what a challenge he had let himself in for! The sessions have been brilliant, Gary is really starting to push me, and I am noticing changes in my figure shape already.
Whatever reason you end up in the gym, enjoy it and enjoy the results - keep it up and it does become a habit that is hard to give up!
